Watching the Garden Grow

I’m a city girl. I wasn’t born with this affliction, it just happened. I got married, we moved, we divorced, and for no reason I can explain, I stayed….it happens. However, I still have a country girls’ heart.

I grew up on a farm where planting, gardening and harvesting we a part of every day life.

I grew up on a farm where planting, gardening, and harvesting were all just a part of every day life. I remember how simple life was. I’m not saying we had everything we wanted but we certainly had what we needed. No, I’m talking about the really important things. Our telephone was on a party-line (if you don’t know what that is, ask your grandma – or maybe her grandma!), summers lasted a lifetime and the pace was busy but there always seemed time to sit and watch the clouds go by.  Those were wonderful days.

I took a walk through the “gardens” yesterday and was reminded of those days. A slower pace and the anticipation that comes with spring. I found so much life reaching for the sky that I had to take some pictures. Mind you, I am not a photographer – in fact, my camera is my iPhone – pretty cool huh?

I was greeted by so much eye candy though I realize the true burst of plant life is yet to come.  You’ll notice the little black friend in the photo-he scurried ahead of me when I want to move a leaf to improve the the photo!
